NRA Basics of Rifle Shooting
A comprehensive introductory rifle course designed for new and developing shooters who want a strong foundation in rifle safety, operation, marksmanship, and responsible firearm ownership.
This course combines classroom instruction, hands-on rifle handling, and live-fire training under the supervision of an NRA Certified Rifle Instructor.
Participants will learn:
- Fundamental firearm safety rules
- Rifle parts and operation
- Ammunition fundamentals
- Safe loading and unloading procedures
- Shooting fundamentals
- Bench rest, prone, sitting, standing, and kneeling shooting positions
- Range rules and safe range procedures
- Rifle cleaning and maintenance
- Safe storage and responsible ownership
- Live-fire shooting exercises
Duration: Approximately 8 hours
Cost: $150 per student

Firearm, Sight & Ammunition Requirements
Students should bring a safe, serviceable rifle suitable for the course equipped with iron sights or a non-magnified red dot sight. Magnified optics and scopes are not permitted for this course.
Students should bring at least 100 rounds of factory-new, commercially manufactured ammunition in the original, unopened factory box.
Reloaded, remanufactured, or hand-loaded ammunition is not permitted.
No live ammunition is permitted in the classroom. Ammunition must remain secured and outside the classroom until directed by the instructor.
If you do not have a suitable rifle or ammunition, contact Keeper & Legacy in advance. In many cases, Keeper & Legacy can provide a suitable training rifle and ammunition for an additional charge. Availability and costs will be discussed beforehand.
Range fees are additional if applicable and are the responsibility of the student.
